NWA 11255 is a Martian Shergottite type meteorite. A single stone of NWA 11255 was recovered weighing 1099 grams. NWA 11255 was purchased in March of 2017.
NWA 11255 has an Aphyric texture which indicates that it formed by the rapid crystallization of melts. It is lacking large suspended crystals, these melts must have been very close to their liquidus temperature.
NWA 11255 is a highly shocked meteorite in a low weathering state. NWA 11255 is composed predominanty of zoned clinopyroxene.
