Sebkha el Melah 001 was found in Mali in 2022. Meteorite hunters recovered approximately 17 kilograms of the meteorite from the Wad Alhath region. B. Salek holds the main mass. SEM 001 was classified by Dr. Carl Agee as an aubrite enstatite achondrite.

Sebkha el Melah meteorites have a unique appearance. They often present as white shard-like stones. Large specimens have jagged angles and even contain translucent, gummy enstatite crystals. SEM 001 is unbrecciated and some specimens have a unique white fusion crust, though some specimens do exhibit darker-colored fusion crust.
