Description

Tarda meteorites fell in Morocco on August 25, 2020. The fireball was observed to be falling from the southwest to the northeast at about 2:30pm local time. The first piece of Tarda meteorite was found by Allow Youssef close to the village of Tarda. The meteorite is classified as a carbonaceous chondrite.

Tarda meteorites are typically small stones with rich, black fusion crust. Some fusion-crusted pieces of the Tarda meteorite exhibit a blue iridescence, and are reported to have a charcoal-like odor. The interior of Tarda is typically dark with light-colored clasts. Tarda meteorites are extremely friable and susceptible to moisture.
