Sayh al Uhaymir 001 is a stone meteorite found in Oman in 2000 on March 16 as part of a field expedition by meteorite hunters. The total known weight of SAU 001 is 450 kilograms. The meteorite is classified as an L5.
SAU 001 meteorites are part of the low-iron chemical group of ordinary chondrites and lightly weathered. Individuals of this meteorite are often brown, with their interiors revealing moderate-sized chondrules. Some oxide rims and veins can be observed around the metal in the meteorite. Sayh al Uhaymir 001 meteorites are also lightly shocked.
