Ajdabiya 001 Lunar Meteorite For Sale

The Ajdabiya 001 lunar meteorite was found in 2021 in Libya. The specimens total 28.8 kilograms and were studied at the University of Washington in St. Louis and the University of Washington by Dr. Anthony Irving and Paul Carpenter, respectively.

Ajdabiya 001 is classified as a lunar melt breccia. As a breccia, it is composed of different materials cemented together by a matrix. The interior of Ajdabiya 001 reveals angular lithic clasts and crystalline debris in a fine-grained matrix. As a melt, glass is present in the matrix. Quench-textured basaltic rocks are also present in the lithologies in Ajdabiya 001. The clasts in this lunar meteorite are unusually large, closely packed, and angular.
