I think I've found a Meteorite?

Please note: We do not have the laboratory equipment necessary to do meteorite identification and classification. Please see the following page on Meteorite Identification.


Do you buy meteorites?

We only buy meteorites from people we know or individuals well known in the meteorite community where the provenance of the meteorite is known.

What are my payment options?

We use PayPal exclusively for the following reasons:

  • You do NOT need a PayPal account to use PayPal.
  • PayPal is used by over 100 million people worldwide.
  • PayPal safeguards your data with their PCI-compliant standards for data protection.
  • PayPal does not share your financial information with us.
  • We can accept payments in 24 currencies from 190 countries worldwide.

I had a problem paying on PayPal. What do I do?

If you placed an order and had problems paying on PayPal please use our Contact Us page to let us know. We will send you an invoice directly from PayPal that will allow you to pay and finish the transaction. If we do not hear from you within 24 hours the order will be deleted.


International Shipping & Customs Fees

  • International orders are shipped by USPS Priority Mail International.
  • USPS Priority Mail International takes on average 6 to 10 business days for delivery to most destinations.
  • You may have to pay customs fees (tariff, taxes, duties.) for final delivery of your order.
  • We have no way of knowing what these fees may be. Please contact your Customs for more information.
  • We can not mark your orders as "gift items" because we are an on-line retail business.
  • If you refuse your order we do not refund any shipping charges or customs fees you may have incurred.

I only see shipping by USPS Priority?

We ship hundreds of packages worldwide each year and USPS Priority and USPS Priority International shipping methods have been the most reliable for us. Another plus is that Priority shipping provides a tracking number. We do understand that the International rates for USPS Priority are higher than other shipping methods but packages have been lost using those other lower cost shipping methods.

I placed my order. When will it ship?

  • Orders are shipped Monday through Friday.
  • Orders normally ship the next business day.

How long will it take to get my order?

  • USPS Priority Mail Domestic takes on average 2 to 3 business days for delivery to most destinations.
  • USPS Priority Mail International takes on average 6 to 10 business days for delivery to most destinations.
  • The Meteorite Exchange, Inc. is not responsible for delays due to any factors affecting carrier delivery schedules.

What is your return policy?

Specimens may be returned to us within 10 business days from receiving for a full refund (less shipping costs). Specimens must be returned in their original condition. Specimens returned 11 through 20 business days days after receiving refunds will be at 80% of their selling amount (less shipping costs). No refunds will be given after 20 business days from receiving your order.
