NWA 5000 Lunar (Moon) Meteorite
Lunar (Achondrite), Feldspathic Breccia
Found July 2007
Southern Morocco
NWA 5000 is by far the largest and perhaps the most interesting of the Lunar meteorites found on Earth. Enormous impacts of asteroids into the Moon can launch chunks of lunar material completely away from the Moon. This material wanders space until caught by gravity and pulled down to Earth. NWA 5000 is still under investigation and is surprising scientist by its unique properties. But, very little of this material is currently available to collectors. And surprisingly even small fragments of this meteorite are remarkably interesting. Most showing clasts of varying colors and good textural details.
