About Us
Jim and Paul met during an astronomy club meeting back in the late 80's. Besides astronomical observing, they started tinkering with the idea of starting a meteorite based BBS (this was just before the Internet really got going). As they they saw the advantages of this new Internet thing, all thoughts going the BBS route were immediately shelved.
In 1996 The Meteorite Exchange, Inc. was formed and the domain name meteorite.com was acquired. As the popularity of The Meteorite Exchange, Inc. grew, Jim and Paul decided to keep meteorite.com open for other Meteorite Dealers to advertise their businesses on the site as well as Jim and Paul having their own Meteorite For Sale Catalog. Paul and Jim continuously work to keep meteorite.com ranked high in the search engines. When Voyage Magazine stopped publication Jim and Paul decided to start an on-line Meteorite Magazine called Meteorite-Times Magazine, www.meteorite-times.com . The focus would be for a fun read with the purpose of promoting the meteorite community and METEORITE Magazine, the World's only meteorite print magazine. In 2005 Paul and Jim decided to give Meteorite-Times a face lift and to add new features such as free meteorite classified ads, meteorite dealers directory and a new links directory. This task was completed in 2006 and work began on doing a complete overhaul of meteorite.com. During the work on meteorite.com, Jim and Paul decided that it would be better to remove their for sale catalog from meteorite.com and move it to a dedicated URL so that the focus of meteorite.com can be to serve as the main portal to the World's Meteorite Dealers and community. Meteorites-For-Sale.com is Paul and Jim's current project and they are in the process of building this new site. Paul and Jim have spent a great deal of time working on a site design that would be both easy and functional. Please check back often to see what new features have been added.
