These stones would quickly be recognized as a rarer type of chondrite called Carbonaceous. These would have characteristics unique to a subclass the Vigarano type. They are rich in large chondrules and scattered through the matrix are irregular masses called Calcium Aluminum Inclusions or CAIs. Allende also contains microscopic diamonds that are among the oldest particles ever discovered.
